CAMPUS MINISTRY

Bishop DuBourg Campus Ministry assists students, faculty and staff in growing in faith and living our motto, “Faith in Christ, Service to Others.” Our team puts many hours into planning the events Campus Ministry facilitates throughout the school year.

Once the school year is underway, all-school liturgies are held once a month, each one with a special focus including Homecoming, All Saints Day, Senior and Pro-Life Club Witnessing, and Ash Wednesday, to name a few.

To nurture our students’ faith lives, all students attend a retreat of some type specifically designed with them in mind. The Freshmen Retreat allows our newest students to build a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus, as well as build new friendships with classmates. Service is the theme of our Sophomore Retreat where students visit off-site organizations such as elementary schools, senior citizen homes, food pantries, and adult daycares to offer service for the day, becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in today’s world. Juniors leave Bishop DuBourg for three days to participate in a Kairos Retreat. Kairos, God’s time, is a retreat allowing juniors to get away from the distractions of everyday life, to take time for themselves, and to make time for God. What a fantastic opportunity! As leaders in our school, seniors take part in a Fourth Day Retreat off-campus, an extension of the Kairos Retreat. The retreat reminds seniors of their time spent with God on their junior retreat and how important that relationship with Jesus truly is, especially as graduation awaits.

Allowing students, teachers, and staff opportunities to develop or deepen their personal relationships with Jesus, instilling a passion to serve others, and helping in the formation of purpose-driven Catholics: this is the goal of the Bishop DuBourg Campus Ministry Office. Stop by the office and say “hello!” We would love to meet you!

OPPORTUNITIES

Every day at 7:25 am, faculty members are invited to gather for morning prayer. Campus ministry also plans, organizes, and implements all-school Masses—which occur about monthly; a student-based liturgical music group also is an extension of Campus Ministry. On weeks that we do not have an all-school mass, we will have daily Thursday mass in Campus Ministry at 7:10 a.m., with confessions beforehand.

Twice per year—Advent and Lent—the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available to students and faculty. There is also a Campus Ministry Club for the students who want to get more involved. They host canned food drives, shoe drives, and other services throughout the school year.
