Bishop DuBourg is proud to house a Veteran's Memorial Wall of Honor, recognizing all DB alumni who have served in the U.S. armed forces. We are truly proud of our alumni and their selfless dedication, bravery, and sacrifice to our nation.
History of the Wall of Honor:
In October 2012 the St. Louis Review ran an article highlighting the efforts of DB grad, Gary Myerscough ’64 to establish a memorial at his alma mater for those who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. JoAnn (DeCarlo) Eckrich, ’64 was the local St. Louis connection that helped make Gary’s dream become a reality. Christian Brother William Woeger, FSC ’63 donated his artistic talents and dedication to actually design and create the panels of the Veterans’ Memorial. On the Memorial, each service emblem is represented and also includes Lucite plates on which the service member’s name is engraved. A simple gold cross signifies veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice while on active duty.
On Veterans’ Day, 2013, Bishop DuBourg held an all-school Prayer Service honoring veterans, their families, and the Veterans’ Memorial panels were blessed with holy water. Kirk Boschert, former President of DB (2006-2013) made remarks at the Prayer Service. Several invited guests were also present. Ben Calloni, father of Angela Calloni, ’98, organized the flag ceremony that accompanied the Prayer Service.
On Veteran's Day, 2015, DB installed the second phase of alumni names - adding over 80 new Veterans. Many alumni and guests came to our ceremony to celebrate these brave Cavaliers.
