Bishop DuBourg is thrilled to announce our new Athletic Director for the 2018-19 school year is our very own Steve Bettlach! Bettlach currently serves as an Academic Dean, History teacher, and Head Varsity Coach for boys and girls soccer, and brings with him an unparalleled passion for DuBourg’s future. Bettlach has been a member of the DuBourg faculty since 2012. His history as a successful soccer coach, brilliant teacher, and experience as a school leader in our community qualified him as an exceptional choice as successor to this position, and we are confident he will continue to expand DuBourg’s programs to their fullest potential. Bettlach holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Benedictine College, and two Master’s Degrees – one in American History (UMKC – 2001) and one in Educational Leadership (SLU – 2012). Bettlach will take over as Athletic Director at the close of the current school year. We would also like to extend our farewell wishes to our current Athletic Director, Ryan Sykora ’00, and thank him for his contributions to the DB community as he embarks on new endeavors.
Bettlach holds a United States Soccer Federation National C Coaching License and has coached boys and girls soccer for a combined 32 seasons (seven seasons so far at DB), acquiring many impressive accolades along the way, including over 200 wins combined. He is a 4x Conference Coach of the Year (including 2 consecutive years at DB) and a 1x Regional Coach of the Year. At DB alone, Bettlach has led his squads to three District Championships, four AAA Conference Championships, two Elite 8 appearances, and produced 13 All-State athletes. His teams have also placed on the Academic All-State teams each year of his leadership.
Congratulations to Steve!
