Cavaliers Send Seven Student-Athletes to the State Track and Field Championship Meet

St. Louis – The Bishop DuBourg boy’s track and field team had seven student-athletes qualify for the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 2 State Championships that will be held Friday, May 21, at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, Mo.

George Blanco claimed first-place in the 1600-meter run at the sectional meet that was held at Monroe City High School this past Saturday. Kalan Harwell took fourth-place in the shot put to move on to the state meet. The Cavaliers had a pair of relay teams also qualify for the state championships. The 4x800-meter relay team of Blanco, Mason Greene, Nathan Pappageorge, and Kaden Harvie earned third-place while Blanco, Greene, Duriel Rogers, and Isaiah River led the 4x400-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish.

“The guys went into sectionals knowing they all had to run their best if they wanted to qualify”, stated head coach Katharine Siemer. “That's a lot of pressure, but they rose to the occasion and their hard work paid off. The boys will continue working this week. Our next goal is All-State!”

Harwell will start the action for the Cavaliers in the shot put Friday at 11 a.m. The 4 x 800-meter relay team will take the track at 12:30 p.m., while Blanco will run the 1600-meter at 2:30 p.m. The 4x400-meter relay will run the last event of the day at 6 p.m.
