Bishop DuBourg Track and Field Teams Excel at Districts

The Bishop DuBourg High School men’s and women’s track and field teams had an outstanding day at the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 2 District competition this past Saturday at Lutheran North High School.

Isaiah Rivers won the High Jump while George Blanco took the top spot in the 1600-meter run to pace the men's squad. Anna Tatko finished second in the 3200-meter run to lead the women’s team.

The women’s 4x800-meter relay team earned a second-place finish in the event with the men’s 4x800-meter relay squad taking third place in the event. The men’s 4x100-meter, 4x200-meter, and 4x400-meter relay teams all placed in the top four to qualify for the sectional this week.

Kalan Harwell earned third place in the shot put and fourth place in the discus while CJ Watkins placed fourth in the shot put to move on to the sectionals.

“Districts went as well as we had hoped and planned for, thanks to the hard work of the athletes this season,” stated head coach Katharine Siemer. “Sending all our men's relay teams to sectionals is a big step in moving our program forward. The coaching staff could not be happier with the results and we look forward to moving kidsto the state championship meet!”

The Cavaliers will take part in the MSHSAA Class 2 sectionals Saturday, May 15, at Monroe City High School. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
