Students are always encouraged to do more than the minimum. As a school, we average about 21,000 hours of service a year. Seniors are granted release time the first two weeks in January to work at a single agency full time do volunteer work. They then return to school after the two weeks, give witness to the entire school community and then process the experience in Religion classes during part of the 3rd quarter. They end the project with a reflection paper about their time of service.
The rest of the school community works on meeting their service hours from May of the previous school year through April of the present school year. That gives them 11 months to render their service.
Faculty and staff devote one day in the fall to service in the community. Many already are actively volunteering throughout the year as well.
