Class Notes

1955
Stephen Blumm has fully retired and relocated to Wisconsin.  On October 11th, 2008 he and his wife, Rose Ann, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in St. Louis with a party thrown by their daughter, Susan, and son, Stephen, at Southside Turners.  Congratulations!

1964
Steve Dunne retired from management consulting and returned to St. Louis.  Following Hurricane Katrina, Steve volunteered in New Orleans with his clients’ business recovery.  Currently, he volunteers as the Secretary of SCORE/SBA (Service Core of Retired Executives); and, serves as SCAN Administrator.  A SCAN is an in-depth team analysis of clients' existing business for the purpose of improving operations and profits. In doing so, he applies his experience from projects worked in 125 industries across the US & Canada.

1969
Mary Lou (Schnellmann) Spellmeyer would like to acknowledge the group that put on the Class of 1969’s reunion, thanking them for a job well done!  A seriously great time was had by all.  Kudos to the committee and the school looks great!  All were impressed!

1971
Katherine (Feckter) married Jeffrey Snyder in September, 2007.  They relocated from Kansas to Center Valley, Pennsylvania when they married.

1974
Bob Candice has reopened his restaurant Candicci’s Restaurant & Bar.  They are now located at 110 Hollow Way Road in Ballwin.  They’re serving up Italian food 7 days a week!

1975
Linda (Linkul) Amad and John Amad ’74 were guests on Purina's PetCentric Cafe radio show several months ago hosted by Warren Eckstein, an animal expert who is often seen on the Martha Stewart Show. John and Linda were chosen to talk about their dog Lily and they came to adopt her. It was a barrel of fun!

1976
After 24 years away, Chris (Nauert) Bahr and her husband, Mike, have moved back to St. Louis with their four children:  Joe, Justin, Emily and Ryan.  Chris is the Provost at McKendree University, Mike teaches at UMSL and Ryan is a freshman at DB!  All are happy to be back in St. Louis and part of the DB Community.

1981
Mary (Aubuchon) Osmer has been a Nurse Educator for a total health management program with Caremark CVS and a home health consultant. Her husband is self-employed in automotive services.  Their daughter, Juliet, is nine years old.

1986
Margaret (Mattingly) Kaduchak has moved to Oregon after living in New Mexico for the last ten years.

1987
In June 2009, Lieutenant Commander Michael Bennett was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for "exceptionally meritorious service and superior performance of duties" for his distinguished service to the United States while acting as the first Director and Professor of Strategic Intelligence Studies at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.  His works in the areas of Homeland Security, Counter-terrorism and Counterintelligence have received national recognition directly supporting U.S. National and Homeland Security objectives.  Michael is currently a National Intelligence Fellow for the United States assigned as the Director's Fellow at the National Security Agency (NSA) for 2009 - 2010 and was recently the recipient of the 2008 United States Coast Guard Chief Journalist Alex Haley Award for research & writing on Coast Guard Intelligence History (guardianspies.com).  Michael is 1998 Graduate of Webster University, a 2003 graduate of the National Defense Intelligence College, and is in the Doctoral Program at Virginia Tech where his focus is on International Affairs and Security Studies.  Michael commutes between Washington D.C. and Connecticut where he lives with his wife Megan, and sons Zachary (18) and Christopher (6).

1998
Mandy (Green) Bohner married Brian Bohner in 2006, and on December 9, 2008 they had their first child, baby Brenden Arthur!

Congratulations to Colleen (Cook) Kremer and her husband, Jeff, on the birth of their first child, Carson Joseph, born on May 19, 2009.

1999
Carrie (Frandeka) Harmon married Tom Harmon in October of 2004. She graduated from Webster University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Management with emphasis in Human Resource Management. Currently she is working in Human Resources for a privately held company in Fenton, MO.  Tom and Carrie welcomed a baby boy, Tyler Nicholas on September 9, 2006.

Jim Varagona was married on May 21, 2006 to Shannon Mulligan.  Harold Rantz ('99) and Jim Mounts ('04) were groomsmen in the ceremony held at The Jewel Box in Forest ParkShannon is a Pediatric Nurse at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and Jim is a Store Manager at InkStop.  They welcomed their first child, Dylan Matthew, in October of 2008, and purchased a home in the same month in the Carondelet Park area of St. Louis.

2000
Chrissy (Krupp) Lee got married on June 16, 2007.  Chrissy and her husband welcomed Caitlyn Marie into their family this past April.

Congratulations to Bobb and Laura (Nostrand) Giammanco who welcomed their first child, Olivia Ann, on August 9, 2008.

2001
Jill (Marty) Zmuda and Luke Zmuda had their first child on May 8, 2008, baby Owen Robert Zmuda!

Rachel (Osborne) Baker and her husband, Jesse, welcomed their second daughter, Zoe Bridget, into their family on June 24, 2009 at 11:38pm, weighing 8lbs, 10oz.  Her big sister, Ava, is doing very well and helping with her new little sister!

2002
Angela (Wright) Harris married Nick Harris on October 8, 2005.  They welcomed daughter Madison Nicole into the family on August 10, 2006 and son Tyler Mitchell on May 1, 2009. 

2005
Matt Oppelt graduated in December of 2008 from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa with a B.A. in Physical Education/emphasis in Sports Administration.  He also received the 2008 Scholar Athlete Award.  Matt is currently working for the River City Rascals. 

2008
Ana Hibbeler made First Team All-Conference for softball at Fontbonne University.  Ana was also named an Academic All American.
