2005 Distinguished Alumnus Award
Rex A. Sinquefield
 
The 2005 recipient is Mr. Rex  Sinquefield of the Class of 1962.   Rex is Chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors Inc., a registered investment advisor with over $50 billion under management.

Rex attended Bishop DuBourg High School from 1958 until 1962.  After Graduating in 1962 he then attended St. Louis University where he received his BS.  He later received his MBA from the University of Chicago.  He has contributed numerous articles to books and academic and professional journals.  He has received two Graham and Dodd Awards for best articles in the Financial Analysts Journal.

He was one of the first to successfully apply the academic findings of modern finance to money management.  In the early 1970s, he and his colleagues at American National Bank of Chicago pioneered many of the nation’s first index funds.

Rex is a director of the German St. Vincent Orphan Home in St. Louis, Missouri, and a member of the investment committee of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. 

He was elected to the Board of Trustees of Saint Louis University in 2003 and is a life trustee of DePaul University and a member of its investment committee.

In 2004, Rex was named Financial Executive of the Year by DePaul’s Finance Advisory Board and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the university’s College of Commerce.  Since 2003, Rex has served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Financial Analysts Journal. 

Commencing in 2005, Rex was appointed to the boards of the Saint Louis Symphony, Saint Louis Art Museum and the Missouri Botanical Garden

He continues to support Bishop DuBourg High School today, in an effort to brighten the future of our students and allow for them the same opportunities that he was given.
